Niles Atallah

Where it all started. This is what made me think of using a big space for animation. He combines charcoal and stopmotion animation. I watched this in the time I made the Charcoal animation.

website amazingstuff about Lucia, Luis y el Lobo :

Lucia, Luis y el Lobo (Lucia, Luis and the wolf) is an amazing stop motion animation by Chilean filmmakers Joaquín Cociña, Cristóbal León, and Niles Atallah.

This two-part short film was created entirely from still shots taken with a digital photo camera. The film is narrated by Lucia (part one) and Luis (part two), whose images appear as flickering charcoal shadows on the walls of the house. The artists then really turn on the magic as the painted shadows begin to interact with the furniture, themselves appearing to breathe life into the inanimate objects in the room (reminding us of Blu’s epic street art animation.)

At Amazing Stuff we love to discover anything that pushes the boundaries of our imagination and takes art into new territory. Lucia, Luis y el Lobo does just that, and it has been recognized with a number of Grand Prix at international film festivals, as well as being shortlisted as one of the 25 best YouTube videos at the YouTube-Guggenheim Play biennial exhibition.

If you’re a fan yourself, you’ll be pleased to learn that the artists are currently working on a feature-length stop motion animation, La Casa Lobo (The Wolfhouse).

Strangely on of the makers also made this film which I saw at the Film Festival in Rotterdam and I didn't liked at all! And he did the artist talk, if I only knew!

I found that out when reading the website about his feature lenght film. Short films on lacasalobo.com

DILUVIO was first created in 2007 in Santiago, Chile as an Audiovisual Art & Film Production Company by Niles Atallah, Joaquín Cociña, and Cristóbal León. Diluvio unites filmmakers and artists in order to support the creation of audiovisual works that typically remain outside the practices of standard cinema production.

Wolf house

ABOUT THE FILM

“The Wolf House” is a nightmare: the story of Maria trapped in a house. The dwelling and its inhabitants are constantly transforming in volatile ways. Even Maria morphs unpredictably: from a young nurse to a helpless little girl, or an old lady in bed to a confused teenager. “The Wolf House” is the story of an invisible presence that reveals itself mysteriously in every living creature or inanimate object. This unexplainable presence is obsessed with Maria and will warp reality time and again in order to make her its prisoner.

“The Wolf House” will include a mixture of different techniques: Live-action with actors, puppet animation and stop-motion animation. All of the aesthetic elements will be in a permanent state of change. Like in dreams, where one person can assimilate the attributes of another, the story and characters of the film will take on different materialities. All the changes in the house, characters and objects will emphasize the permanent under-construction reality of the film.
