Byte Noise: Sound you see me? Sound you don't
Byte Noise: Sound you see me? Sound you don't is a project that emerged from a conversation between (Senka) and (Lorenzo) concerning the -SI22 title link-, where the idea of archiving is at stake concerning apocalyptic scenarios(link to my poem?): What do you keep, what do you throw away.
Senka was building a 3D model in Blender and showed it during a prototyping session / meeting and that sparked a dialogue: How do we showcase the RADIO WORM as how it is, instead of how it might be perceived? The digital visualization imagines the metaphysical identity of the WORM. It's not 'just' a radio station. There is more than meets the ears. Working on the project towards the presentation of the Special Issue, we imagined that the crowd will be loud and to focus on visualizing the data revolving around RADIO WORM. Taking into account, the message of an apocalypse.
What do you keep, what do you throw away?
From that visual, we made the following: Senka's version is a digital rendition, focusing on the skeleton / vessel of RADIO WORM. The only visible textures are in the computer monitor and in the lights beyond the studio. Lorenzo's Unity3D world contrasts that visual by showing the visualization of data, sound, broadcasts, files, folders.
Combined, these will be portrayed on the Modular TV Block in the Wunderbar as a collage(?) of a poetic metaphysical virtual poem.
These 3D renditions of the Radio Worm studio contrast the empty studio with all the invisible audio data, the endless stream of radio shows, stored on Worm's hard drive. Since this is the most important space for the community of radio makers, we created this snapshot of it while thinking about the question 'What do we do with all this invisible digital data and how do we prevent it from getting "dusty"?'
