Performer: You were listening to the 'Channel X' section of 1000 Fragments, the debut album of Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda. In creating his minimalist and breathtaking art and music, he draws from mathematical concepts, quantum mechanics, data, sound and light, transforming them into works of intangible power and beauty, often capturing the invisible structures and data that shape our lives. 1000 Fragments is divided in three parts. The first 9 tracks make up what we just heard, a dynamic and noisy sound collage of radio and classical music samples, mixed with tones and noises used by Ikeda. The 5 following tracks are the 5 Zones (1994-95; these tracks are divided but they form one big track without interruption) and finally the last 16-min long ambient track, Luxus.
