Definitions

A word that can be used to challenge the alleged "objectivity" of scientific communites, that proposes that the inquiry and production of knwledge involves both scientist and non scientists, as these agencies depend on each other vaildation in order to conduct "scientific research". These Transepistemistic relations are not easily observed, and rarely brought to light, even though the may permeate the production of knowledge.

Application

An example of a transepistemic relation can be found in the interaction between a funding agency and the researchers it supports. Often the funding agency participates to the framing of the research problem by negotiating the methods to be used or the interpretation of measurements (Knorr-Cetina and Malkay Science observed, 1983, p. 132).
