Tutorials

17-04-2023 // Manetta

[input]
_wiki - how to import images from another source and not uploaded in the wiki?
_mailing - is there a way i can manage my own mailing list and not use tools like substack & mailchimp?
_for prototyping: making a webspace for the audio publications - hesitating between using the wikimedia, building a website or placing them on my own alnik.me

[notes]
_we worked more on an editorial level this time: talked about the idea for the publications of the sound jams and the dilemma between the approach for documentation or transformation;
_questions for myself: what does the editorial stand for? what do i want to bring in the publication? what do i want the readers to take from it?
_when speaking about the sound jams, i tend to generalise and not get into details when describing positive effects; what are the small moments, specifics that bring insight from the jams? the insights that are valuable and with which i can go into dept?
_next time to bring materials and sketches of the publications to work with

18-04-2023 // Michael

[input]
_updating Michael where i am (about tutorial with Manetta);
_next steps: figure out the editorial stance; the intention of the project and what do i want to bring from the jams and to publish; only after that work on the specific formats (even though i have some specific ideas already)

[notes]
_to check out some sonic publications; listen to podcasts etc.
_for next time Michael will read my thesis (i will take a week away from it and then will get back to it, to see some key highlights i want to bring into the project)

Projects

Interests

things I'm interested in exploring during xpub2:

_pure data for musical instruments
_mailing list
_wikimedia
_web to print

Wikimedia

my wikimedia main page :)

[about] one of the completely new things for me at XPUB was documenting my research and practice by using Wikimedia. I would like to keep that after graduating, thus I want to install my own Wikimedia and connect to my current website.

[prep]

  • Mediawiki - tutorial by Manetta
  • Hosting and serving - tutorial by Joseph & Manetta
  • vps hosting (OVH cheapest starter pack as a beginning) & domain (will use my own alnik.me)

[result]

  • my own mediawiki installed on my server and connected to my domain

wiki.alnik.me

Web to print

html document where to place the text for printing

[tutorials]

[results]

  • structure of having a paged.js setup for creating files to print directly for web
  • contents of the structure: HTML core file; CSS stylesheets; conversion command from .rtf to .html
  • up next - dive into CSS
