Re-mixing the Archive Hosted by XPub (PZI)

This workshop will experiment with scanned materials from the archive of the Poortgebouw – a former squat, now housing a living community in south Rotterdam.The archive is a collection of material from the history of the building including: interviews, flyers, posters, zines, newspapers and other material which trace the fascinating history of this building.The goal of the session is to build a working prototype of a POSTER-ZINE which will take different approaches to typography, layout, folding, curating and editing. A version of the poster-zine will be included in the forthcoming publication A Bed, a Chair and a Table. We invite you to join our work in progress and get a sneak peek into the book.

Hosted by the students of the Master Media Design: Experimental Publishing (XPub), Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam The finished poster-zine and the book A Bed, a Chair and a Table will be launched on the 7th of December 2017 at the Poortgebouw.

The students of the Master Media Design: Experimental Publishing from the Piet Zwart Institute will experiment with scanned materials from the archive of the Poortgebouw (a formerly squatted cultural center in South of Rotterdam). While taking different approaches of typography, layout and folding, the goal of the zin camp session, is to build a working prototype of a poster/zine. This will be included into the final publication, the students are currently working on, called "A chair, a table and a bed". The Experimental Publishing department would like to invite you to join their work in progress, and give a sneak peak into their book about the Poortgebouw. It will be lauched on the 7th of December 2017.
