Beginnings of GNU project. Richard Stallman join the [MIT] artificial intelligence lab in 1971, and join a thriving community of hackers, people who loved programming and exploring computers. they had developed a complete operating system entirely written there. and i became one of the team that continued to improve that operating system adding new capabilities.
"we called the systems the 'incompatibility time sharing system, which is an example of the playful spirit which defined a hacker. Hackers are people who enjoy playful cleverness"
