The Silent Ray is a multimedia work probing the relation between private and public retelling of dramatic historical events—namely, the colonial war Fascism waged against Ethiopia in 1935-36. Oscillating between memory and hallucination, the work, which is based on examination of photographic material from the artist’s family, explores the human aspiration of transcending one’s social and personal constraints regardless of consequences.
