The Beatles session

Everything that Ema did was based on The Beatles.

✦ Hey Jude - Cover by The Beatles, Radio Tuning Version.

A version of “Hey Jude” composed solely of words that appear in other Beatles songs.

Created by Ema Note: Soon i will post a video of it on YT

Example:

Hey, Jude, don't make it bad

(hey → Can be found in: Boys [line 5] + Boys [line 5])

(don't → Can be found in: Boys [line 23] + Boys [line 47])

(make → Can be found in: Please Please Me [line 23] + Little Child [line 19])

(bad → Can be found in: Misery [line 1] + Misery [line 7])

'Hey Jude' can also be rendered as a State Machine

🛠 How it's Made

⋄ I built a script to scrape AZLyrics in order to collect all 176 lyrics of all the original studio version of the songs from The Beatles to store them in a JSON file

{
"title": "Song Title",
"lyrics": "Song \nLyrics"
},

⋄ I built another script to find all the matching words from 'Hey Jude' (The lyrics of this song were on a different JSON) into the entire discography of The Beatles. Matches were narrowed down to just 2 results per word (see example above).

⋄ Download the 35 songs that have a match, by using @iamdefinitelynotabot bot on Telegram made by my close friend Ramin

command used: .a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YourLink

⋄ Use of Moises: an app that separate all the different stems of an audio file, so only the voice can be edited in order to have a consistent instrumental base from the original song underneath

⋄ Use a DAW to edit the final audio output (cutting & stretching bits of audio)

✦ Take a sad song and make it better

Psychogeographic Writing Machine

The route I took following the protocol, starting from Jumbo at Wijnhaven

A writing machine based on Wilfried Hou Je Berk's psychgeographic walks. More info in this blog post!

Protocol:

[A / The] second turn right
[In a] first turn left
[Is walking on] first turn right
[Wondering about] first turn left
repeat

Output:

A lichen made from metal
In a barrel overflowing with oil
Is walking on balding trees
Wondering about a house of cannibal queens
Surveillance In a screaming scull Is walking on decorative butt plugs Wondering about a spy
The headless braid In a puddle growing larger Is walking on an animal guard Wondering about time to go back

The Dragon of Arnhem

You go over to the bridge over the Rhine river, and you see Clara kneeling over a baby. She begs you to go and save yourself and the baby. What do you do?

Option A: Obey her. Take the baby and run. Ending: She is found dead the next morning with her head gone.

Option B: You stay behind to protect her, fighting off the undead horde. Ending: You die and she turns into the Dragon of Arnhem.
