- Can you describe your exhibition?
I joined a group exhibition called 'the secret spaces behind the artworks'. As one of ten artists, we show our private space in the gallery with distinctive styles. Each artist is provided with a 15-20m2 space to fill with their stuff and the room is isolated by fake walls. They look like a collection of virtual model houses. It would not just be a normal room but an extraordinary space where the audience can experience artist's private space and put themselves into imagination world of an artist.
- How are you going to design your space?
I am planning to make murals on all the surrounded walls which can bring the audience to a totally different world or space, and place some furniture decorated with my illustrations something like that. Also, I am planning to place some 3D sculptures which are transformed from 2d design so people can touch it and make some pictures with them. Also, there would be some video installation which helps people get the plentiful feeling from the exhibition. If you make use of the diverse medium as much as you can, the exhibition would be more diverse and more fun.
- Why do you want people to know the secret behind the artworks?
The reason why I plan this exhibition is that we only see the art as a static art piece or a video through a screen or something, but if you know more about the artist who makes the art pieces, we can understand the art more and we feel familiar with it.
- As we know, 90 percent of the audience coming to the exhibition of Normalville are not from the art industry, how are you going to make your work easier for them to understand?
To the people from the city Normalville who has no clue of art, I am aiming to make them feel familiar with the art and artists. Normally people who are not interested in art think that art is hard to understand. So I want to break this stereotype. Also, Nowadays, people like being a part of the art or participating in it not only understanding it. So by letting them walk through the room and feel the atmosphere of it, I want people can experience something which they don't normally do in their daily life.
- What do you expect the audience will react?
people can go every room and feel different and even compare each room, it could be a normal conversation during their dinner time, for example, what is your best, what is good, what is your taste something like that. The art can be a part of their lives slowly. Also, I am planning to sell my goods as well to people can bring the art to their home. This exhibition suggests an alternative journey for the audience to experience the art itself through the artist's room
- Does every room relate to each other?
Not really, I just want them to come in and out of each room, to experience different feelings.
- What is your motivation then?
Help and encourage them to have an open mind and attitude toward the art industry.
- Are you going to sell tickets? If so, how much?
Yes, I have to, since It's quite big scaled exhibition and we are not sponsored by anyone, we need to buy things and decorate the space, so we need the money. However, I think 10 euros is ok, I don't want it to be too expensive. If the tickets are too expensive, people are not willing to come to the exhibition. Remember, the main goal of this exhibition is making the audience who are not interesting in art feel familiar with the art.
- How long is the exhibition last?
I think 3 months at least.
