At the moment I am experimenting with gestures in which will culminate in a series of self-portraits, both photographs and a short film.

The portraits will be symbolic and reflective of times in my life, thoughts and ideas. [<<be more specific: what times? What sort of things are you in search of? Can you give examples] The use of symbolic props and gestures [such as?] will hint at the meaning, but leave it open for interpretation.

In order to get there, I want to do experiments, where I strip everything down, to only work with gestures without props or costume. I will take photos with a neutral background and try and make my gestures as powerful I can, using my phone as a guidance and remote for the camera. [<<is there another word for 'powerful'; what is it in particular about these gestures that you want to get at?] I will then study them, this will help me self reflect and to get more precise in my work. I am also taking an open course in Portrait making at Willem de Koning, where it is both analytical and practical. We have been studying the composition, lightning and analysing portraits made by other photographers. Also had hands-on experimentation in the photo studio which will culminate in portraits that we will photograph ourselves with our own models. In my research I have been looking at other female artists work, their life and how they represent themselves in self-portraits. Also artists that study movements and gestures, like choreographers and filmmakers.
