Written in the last year of art school, Reality by proxy is a thesis about hyperreality, real vs fake, nature vs culture, perception and media filters. To underline this the thesis was printed on white tractor-feed paper, the tear edges still intact. This results in a very long strip of paper filled with text. Most of the words are underlined and look similar to an online hyperlink, the result is a physical hypertext. There are also images used in the text, but they're so distorted that they look like computer errors.

Thesis: Reality by proxy

Written in the last year of art school, Reality by proxy is a thesis about hyperreality, real vs fake, nature vs culture, perception and media filters. To underline this the thesis was printed on white tractor-feed paper, the tear edges still intact. This results in a very long strip of paper filled with text. Most of the words are underlined and look similar to an online hyperlink, the result is a physical hypertext. There are also images used in the text, but they're so distorted that they look like computer errors.

When folded the thesis resembles a booklet. Two A3-size pages with horizontal stripes of light green ink, folded in half, are added to this stack. Printed on one side of each page are a total of thirty black and white images, different ion size, grainy, but not distorted. Underneath each image, in a small font size, you can read the filename and extension.

The cover is smaller rectangular-shaped piece of paper, light green. It is placed, horizontally, in the middle of the thesis and secured by two brass fasteners. It has my name, the title and a glitched up image printed on it.
