Human anatomy can be a great inspiration for portraying and doing gossip. Capillaries are the equivalent of gossip, but for blood circulation. They bring Oxygen to the most peripheral parts of vertebrates’ bodies, and they allow it to circulate in a hierarchical yet natural way (there are bigger vessels such as arteries and veins, but they are not necessarily most important?).

gossip : information = capillaries : blood vessels

Capillaries are the tunnels of the body (not only vertebrates but also some wrms already have closed circuletion system) so I would say that the analogy would be a bit more accurate if the capillaries are the channels where the gossip spreads and the gossip itself is the blood that circulates within.
