V2 Lab Building on Eendrachtsstraat in Rotterdam

V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media, founded in 1981, is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

V2_ presents, produces, archives, and publishes art created with new technologies, fostering debate on these issues. It provides a platform where artists, scientists, software and hardware developers, researchers, and theorists from various disciplines can share their findings and insights.

It was the main organizer of the Dutch Electronic Art Festival, which evolved from the Manifestations for the Unstable Media that V2_ had been organizing since 1987.

The booklet "Participatieve Kunst" by Sandra Trienekens was sold out and is now for free available as a PDF.

Residencies

V2_ has organized many residencies for emerging artists in the field of art & technology. Currently V2_ hosts different programs such as RiT (Realities in Transition), Summer/ Winter Sessions and Studio Quantum. Through Open Calls it is possible to apply.

The booklet "Everyone is an artist" by Ruben Jacobs was sold out and is now for free available as a PDF.

Publications

V2_ publishes books about art, new media and media theory. V2_Publishing’s books connect practice and theory and link disciplines such as sociology, architecture, media theory, biology and technological innovation.

The E-pub "Stories of Interbeing Weaving Stories, Voices and Technologies" was part of the interdisciplinary residency program “The Digital Flying Carpet” that took place in 2022 and 2023. (a collaboration between Women Connected and V2_ ) This publications is for free available through the online store of V2_.
