NOMINATING STUDENT'S NAME: Ariela PROPOSED GUEST ARTIST NAME: Mercedes Azpillicueta DESCRIPTION OF ARTIST’S PRACTICE / RESEARCH - Mercedes Azpilicueta (born in La Plata, Argentina in 1981) is a visual and performance artist living and working in Amsterdam and Buenos Aires. Her practice involves research and production processes that explore the affective qualities and political dimension of language and voice, in connection to notions of performativity, post-colonial feminism and resistance. In 2018 she presented her first major solo exhibition at the Buenos Aires Museum of Modern Art. She received the Pernod Ricard Fellowship, Paris, in 2017 and was artist-in-residence at the Rijksakademie (Amsterdam) in 2015—2016. She has an MFA from the Dutch Art Institute/ArtEZ (Arnhem, 2013), and a BFA from the National University of the Arts (UNA), Buenos Aires (2007); where she also took the Artists' Program 2009—2010 at the University Torcuato Di Tella. You can schedule guests across the whole of the calendar year 2021 (your budget is good until Dec 2021) Following the online nomination process, you need to collectively meet on ZOOM and make an agreed list of who you collectively want to invite.
BUDGET FOR 12 GUEST DAYS
There is a budget for 12 guest days in total across 2021.
The fees for a visiting tutor are 320 euros per day. There is a further possible travel/subsistence allowance to be agreed and signed off on a case by case basis with Leslie.
APPROACHING THE GUEST TUTOR
If the student panel select a guest tutor - the student who nominated the tutor should then be responsible for approaching them. The department will supply a basic letter template with conditions etc you can use as a guide. It will include basic financial terms and travel stipend details
Each lecturer should make at least a one-hour artist talk/ presentation of their work on the first day they teach.
ARRANGEMENTS
arrange dates of visit, preferably in the evenings or on Thursdays and Fridays when there are no classes or tutorials.
HAVING INVITED A GUEST LECTURER IN PRINCIPLE THEN TALK TO LESLIE FOR FINALISING DATES AND PAYMENT
arrange to billing arrange booking a room or a ZOOM meeting via your HR student accounts for the initial presentation of work.
