they've sent me a box

they've sent me the box

in a room that's filled with family photo albums

scattered all over the floor

I pick them up

and while looking at the pictures I start remembering

moments

that never took place (not in my lifetime)

I pick up an album

and it's stuffed with cutlery

cutlery falls out of it while I'm flipping the pages

We were all made of sand

Everyone around me is sound asleep

There's no floor

I move

waking all of them

(inevitably)

because we're all lying on one gigantic hammock

if my family were to be animals

we would be mice

my father looks like a mouse

so does my brother

my sister reminds me more of a deer

so does my mother

although she could pass as a mouse
