Janis Klimanovs (1986) is a Latvian photographer. He looks through an optical lens and creates a mix of photographs and moving images. The field of interest is to discover the extraordinary of daily life. He observes and captures pure and innocent actions. Nostalgia, duality and gentle irony are important elements in his work.

Aim of the project is to observe and record collections, how people collate and channel a material that carries memories and stories of their lives. Memories vanish with time. I am discovering what kind of memories and things are archiving my roots.
Memories vanish with time. Interpretation of memory is based on stories, documents and images. I am looking back at my roots and discover what kind of memories are important for them and at the same time I am collating and channeling these stories and creating my own archive.

Memories vanish with time. Interpretation of memory is based on stories, documents and images. I am looking back at my roots and discover what kind of memories are important for them and at the same time I am collating and channeling these stories and creating my own archive.
