I want to make an exhibition of artworks as well as scientific and technological products, that represent, interact, comment and examine the characteristics, usage and impact of images and technology in the total media surround. The exhibition shall explain the impact of modern technological developments on image culture. Subsequent it is intended to point on practices of the attention seeking culture in the total media surround.
For the realisation I want to curate works and invite artists to provide works and install them in a physical space. Necessary for that is the access to works, availability of the space and the contextual creation of relations between various works as different positions within the domain. Timetable to be specified.
I want to make this project because I want to draw relations between images and the technology that is shaping our medial realities by bringing them together in a spatial installation. My personal interest comes from the observation of the development of consumer technology and the Internet towards being a mass medium of communication and the huge importance and rise of importance of images in today’s communication, that besides is shaped by the consumer Internet technologies.
For the project one big contribution will come from other artists and makers by their contribution of work. For the development of the program I will need assistance from - researchers on technology, imaging, Internet cultures, image culture, art historians, curators, …
The project is related to previous work that I did, dealing with the perception and depiction of reality, as well as a critical design project challenging the impact of technology on the individual reality of people.
In a larger context it is very relevant.
