Image Analysis

Here are the notes I took while some colleagues were discussing the image. I remained silent during the event. The image is a reversed photograph of medium format films I putted on a lightbox table. Films are 56*720mm. The neon lighting of the box resulted in a strong blue hue and uneven lighting of the original photograph.

Before a storm. Humidity. Monsoon. A dream like melted-landscape. The colour is calming. Both a dream and a nightmare. A personal view of someone panicking or running. The choice of arrangement, dark in the centre. It can be read like a comic or a film line, from left to right. Vertical dark lines made by trees remind me of the frame separation you find in 8mm film. A gradual nightmare, to the darkness. A forrest fire. Smoke waves. Light waves. Gas. The environment move but not me. Dissolved movement. Marks of photographic film, as an evidence: it really happened, tradition from 60s photography. How can they work together. I see a face. Would it be stronger with only one strip. How would it be to have it printed very large, in the whole space. There is a lot of sounds. The sound of a storm, of the rain and the wind. The sound of a breath. Noise. Surreal.
