WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Special Issue'

  • Understanding pirate libraries and the ecosystem around them
  • Deeper inside view into monoskope + memory of the world

Software

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED?

  • Basics into Terminal/Python3/DrawBot
    • Not to take too many side projects next school, because this will affect my focus
    • Having more discipline to learn coding (still need to catch up a few more things)
    • To learn coding needs time, focus and ambition
    • Learn to ask the right questions regarding debugging
    • Keeping track of the code notes
    • Organising the files in the computer (easier to find later on them)
    • Try to be always present at the programming classes or if not try to catch up the material and do your homework

  • Reader
    • What is a reader
    • How to use zotero
    • How to do a gender neutral research
    • What is feminism
    • Where to find female typedesigners and their fonts
    • How to design a book with only text and make this exciting to read

  • Writing
    • How to read and understand an academic text
    • How to do Harvard citation
    • How to structure an essay
    • How to write an comparative essay

  • Concept
    • Stay sharp and critical during the conceptual phase
    • Don't try to combine to many things at the same during the concept – focus only on one strong aspect

WHAT DID I ACHIEVED FROM MY 1ST TRIMESTER WISHLIST?

  • the way of thinking in code
  • learned the basics of Terminal
  • learned the basics of Python
  • trained my research skills
  • trained my writing skills
  • found also ways how to connect with my work (Python – DrawBot, Python – Cinema4D, Python – Blender)

WHERE DO I WANT TO GO?

  • Investigation into Makefiles
  • Investigation into Git
  • Investigating a research into steganography / abusing file formats and creating a project with it in Python
  • doing a project with Pi
  • learning more how to think in code and realise my ideas
  • developing further my Python3 skills
  • diving into Python – DrawBot, Python – Cinema4D, Python – Blender
  • diving into Touchdesigner in combination of Python
  • diving into Openframes
  • learning more about Wiki (+styling of it)
  • open shaders
  • vvvv
  • open GL
  • pure data
  • p5.js

WHY?

  • graduation project next year → live generated 3D environments ↔ audiovisualisation
  • A – Z → founding a studio in collaboration with Alex Roidl – collaborative and hybrid practice in borders of new technologies and visual culture
    • the studio should have two foundations:
      • visual culture (graphic design, art direction, motion design, visual identity, website, 3D animation)
      • digital culture (design research, creative coding, light - space installations, audiovisual performances)
