Hey, I am Renee Olde Monnikhof, born in Alphen aan den Rijn in 1986. When I was two I moved with my parents and two sisters to Washington DC where I lived for three years. After Washington DC we moved to South Africa Pretoria where we stayed for five years and then we moved to China Beijing where we lived for four years. After China we moved back to the Netherlands and I went to the American School of the Hague where I did my International Baccalaureate. This was also the place where I got interested in art and design and decided to apply for Art school in Rotterdam (the Willem de Kooning Academie) in the direction illustration. After a year of Illustration I realised that illustration was not exactly what I expected it to be and then made the decision to switch my major to Graphic Design. This was the best decision I ever made because I completely felt at home in this direction. In the third year of my studies I went on an exchange program to Baltimore to the Maryland Institute Collage of Art for four months. I had an amazing time there! When I came back to the Netherlands I did an internship at Fabrique in Amsterdam for a half a year. After that I graduated from the WDKA and decided that I still had so much to learn so I applied for a master degree program in Networking media. | |||
