Janis Klimanovs (1986) is a Latvian photographer. He looks through an optical lens and creates a mix of photographs and moving images. The field of interest is to discover the extraordinary of daily life. He observes and captures pure and innocent actions. Nostalgia, duality and gentle irony are important elements in his work.

Aim of the project is to observe and record collections, how people collate and channel a material that carries memories and stories of their lives. Memories vanish with time, I am discovering what kind of memories my roots are archiving.
Memories vanish with time. The nostalgic action of remembering is based on stories, documents, images and interpretation. Klimanovs returned to his family and discovered what kinds of memories are important for them. He collated and channeled these stories, creating his own archive of memories.
