The Archival Oceans zine is a publication made by Anita and Thijs in response to The Hitchhiker's Guide to an Active Archive Radio Show they had worked on prior. There are three editions: one for each role from the radio show (Protocoller, Performer and Navigator). Like the show, this publication aims to build on a tradition of choose your own adventure adventures with a twist. By having each edition present one part of a script, the 'your' in 'choose your own adventure' is made plural. This way, the zine (like the show) invites a collaborative performance.
It was created during the first trimester of 2023-2024, in which XPUB1 focussed on Special Issue 22: Radio Worm: Protocols for an Active Archive. The zine touches on the language of archiving, the communication surrounding it and the chaotically human experience that drives it all.
