"Everything is writtent before its a language"

The constructions below are subtractions, interpretations, additions and variations of Nathaniel Mackay's poems.

From the perspective of language is an abstract organism, I aimed to create an unusual atmosphere for an anti-poem to live in. I am very much inspired by the performance aspect of literature and how the reading can change meaning for the audience.

I believe the barriers between different languages or writing in a non native language can be broken by the use of fonetics and performance. Also not trying to find another way of creating something new but just discovering the material in hand is what I tried to do.

We talked about the urgency of creating and the time between creation and inscription. This made me think of the re-reading experience which I loved in the end because it is in its core very much against the consumers we are in the daily world. I think re=reading or spending a valuable time on the text can open many possibilities or change meaning each time its read.

The first attempt is where I tried to add to the rhythm of the poem and use the spaces in between.

I tried to materialize this in a zigzag paper to add movement also to the reading performance where the reader should tilt the paper to read the revised version of the actual poem:

Original poem, other side of the zigzag

The other attempt in revision was to create an antipoem where it only exists if you read it outloud. It is not a poem, it isnt written on paper, it is nothing (basically scrap fabric unless you hold it in your hand) if you dont read it or share it. Also this was a trial to challenge the boundaries of language and the illusion of whats read and heard. A glimpse of non native reading experience where you have to connect the dots of what you are hearing and reading simultanously to construct meaning...
