==II. Why==
I am a person who is controlled by contemporary digital technology but also wants to control it in return. In my experience, my perception of place and time is bewildered by the immediate connectivity of modern telepresence technology. While I am doing video chat, I often don't know where I am, how to get along with and express emotions with people on the other end of the screen. In modern times, we can get along with remote lovers with advanced telepresence technology. However, the actual physical distance still exists. We still can't live in the same city, we still can't touch each other, and our actions after disconnection are still limited. For example, we still can't meet in the same supermarket and watch the same clouds. This feeling of partially connected but partially out of touch always troubles me, and there seems to be something missing or mutated in it.

Affected by the telepresence technology, in contemporary society, we frequently use Internet communication to eliminate geographical restrictions, but in the meantime, it seems to lack real human emotional interaction. I explore this aspect of space and video installations.

As the input of the thesis analysis, I will analyze the historical evolution of the relationship between communication space and users, and study the relationship between people and space in the current communication, in order to understand the gradually mutating geographical environment and the impact on people.

===2.1 Thesis Statement===
In the second input of the analysis, I intend to collect illusions and confusion caused by people's interpersonal interaction due to the intervention of digital technology- telepresence. I research the technology and background of creating illusions in video art based on real environmental factors. For example, AR and collage of different timelines to create a bizarre scenario of time, space perceiving. I hope that I could use this methodology to explore the perception of body, space, and time which disappears or increases or manipulates in this interaction between digital technology and human interaction.

In the previous year, I explored different senses of time and place in video media, and how to use images that mix different timelines to manipulate and shift the sense of time we are familiar with, so that the audience can experience a different sense of time and space. For example, by applying live performances and real-time video input in the cinema screen, the eye project breaks the familiar feeling that we originally thought that the movie content belongs to the past.

I. What

A practical report that can sort out the logic of my art creating methodology, supplemented by the analysis of the corresponding artist theories and references to reflect on my creative process which intends to explore and emphasize the missing human connection due to the impact of the immediate connectivity of modern telepresence technology.

II. Why

I am a person who is dominated by contemporary digital technology but also wants to control it in return. In my experience, my perception of place and time is bewildered by the immediate connectivity of modern telepresence technology. While I am doing a video chat, I often don't know where I am, how to get along with, and express emotions with people on the other end of the screen. In modern times, I can get along with remote lover by the connectivity from the advanced telepresence technology. However, the actual physical distance still exists. In this sense, we still can't live in the same city, we still can't touch each other, and our actions after disconnection from the internet are still limited. For example, we still can't meet in the same supermarket and watch the same clouds after we are offline. This feeling of partially connected but partially out of touch always troubles me, and there seems to be something missing or mutated in it.

II. How

Questions

  • Overlapping and Merging locations with the geographical distance ( fictional)
  • How do you express feelings via the screen?
  • Find the disappearing space (things or emotional connection) in human interaction between digital and reality?

Relation to previous practice

In the previous year, I explored different senses of time and place in video media, and how to use images that mix different timelines to manipulate and shift the sense of time we are familiar with, so that the audience can experience a different sense of time and space. For example, by applying live performances and real-time video input in the cinema screen, the eye project breaks the familiar feeling that we originally thought that the movie content belongs to the past.
