Rough plan
The structure of the video essay will follow the structure of the thesis. That means it will have three main parts, according to the three chapters.
I am currently making a rough plan with the clips I want to use both with paper on the wall and in Kdenlive.
Introduction
In the introduction, the main concepts will be introduced:
- Meal replacements
- Techno-solutionism from Silicon Valley
Chapter 1
The first chapter will deal with gender representations in cooking, as well as past attempts at imagining a future in which cooking and eating will be completely different.
Main topics to be tackled:
- Separation of kitchen labour according to gender
- side by side comparison of Martha Rosler and Julia Child with great synchronization between the two - man in the kitchen trying to do something fancy but fails because he is a man
- Post-mom economy
- since I can't find any videos describing this concept, I will do voice-over/subtitle plus videos from various services that fit into this category
- Futurist ideas on food (coming from suffragettes, all the way to SF)
