Visual Light Communication
VLC is a dual-screen video installation, in which the right screen contains nine split moving images showing different kinds of visual light communication object. They all convey different messages through flickering in different frequency. The pure flickering can be viewed at left screen. The simple "on" and "off" transmit the information from targeting signal, morse code, to even complex array of data. However, from constant lighting to flickering in nano seconds, human eyes cannot capture all information. My tentative plan here is utilising the incomplete collection to imply what McLuhan's notion, "the "message" of any medium or technology is the change of scale or pace or pattern that it introduces into human affairs", and therefore to provide a glimpse of technical reality.
