| | |
| == By DESCRIPTION==
| |
| By definition glitch art is the aestheticization of digital or analog errors, such as artifacts and other "bugs", by either corrupting digital code/data or by physically manipulating electronic devices (for example by circuit bending).src[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glitch_art Glitch art wikepedia]
| |
| | |
| I found myself interested in the idea of data moshing, data bending, image hacking or errors or disrupted, corrupted, malfunction, anomaly, noise of the transmitting or receiving digital or analog signal. Or mapping the invisible - showing the lost of information in visual matter.
| |
| What have triggered my attention to consider the glitch as an media object is the temporarily of the image - the ephemerally of the code behind seen as a budge of lines of numbers, letters and symbols.
| |
| I would like to question two aspects in glitch as a media object why and how is it considered to be a form of new media aesthetics - fetishisation of technology created and consumed?
| |
| As some pervasive notion of how new digital aesthetics imply the seductive role of the technology or moreover the existing fetishism of how the technology had tend to failed.
| |
| Why it remains something relevantly old in terms how has been used as an expanded noise - disturbed signal and on the other hand the practice and social context of the contemporary glitch scene?
| |
| Some may argue what is the main purpose matter of visual distortion or appropriation in the glitch practices? Furthermore is it just a tweaking visual characteristics or it could convey a certain context?
