Human anatomy can be a great inspiration for portraying and doing gossip. Capillaries are the equivalent of gossip, but for blood circulation. Capillaries are the tunnels of the body (not only vertebrates but also some worms already have closed circulation system) so I would say that the analogy would be a bit more accurate if the capillaries are the channels where the gossip spreads and the gossip itself is the blood that circulates within.

Capilarries more over are very interesting anatomically because the are very thin - only one layer of cells - tubes which only allows certain 'ingerdients' of the blood to pass through. In this sense and maybe relate back to the analogy capillaries also function as filters so they keep parts of the blood (or gossip) inside the circulation and they leak certain parts outside into the intracellular space.
