This 3rd radio show was very well planned ahead. We played a lot with the writing machine's theme. Each one of us brough on air a different WM made by coding, music, text, emails, inputs from the Radio WORM chat and even playing cards!

Fun Fact: During the broadcast we got invaded by a 4th host, the Radio Ghost! 👻

Welcome to the 3rd radio broadcast held by the XPUB students from the Piet Zwart Institute, about Writing Machines–Protocol Feedback, or just Writing Machines if you like! Today you're with Bart, Youjung and Ema (each person reads their own name)

So what is XPUB??? Well... that's an answer to which we may respond with this radio session, so stick to it to listen and delve with us in the curious world of the Writing Machines!! In this next hour of broadcast, we will make you discover how fun and strange it can be when you take something well established and granted as the language, and play with it. By playing with it we're trying with you, the listener, to understand and possibly expand what are the boundaries of the human language, with the help of Protocols, combined sometimes with Machines of different kinds.

Cooking spam e-mails from my inbox, in Hassan Brown's SEO proposal the order of the phrases are completely random. Whereas in Tips from ABN AMRO I divided each phrases into subjects like coverage, risks and benefits and placed them into variables to add different context.

Everything that Ema did was based on The Beatles.

You can read in details about his Writing Machines on the section about Writing Machines! It's up to you to find it 😉

He first played his ♫ Hey Jude - Cover by The Beatles, Radio Tuning Version.

A version of “Hey Jude” re-composed solely by the same words of the song but that are from other Beatles songs.

He then followed Beatles' Take a sad song and make it better protocol sang in Hey Jude, by taking a sad song from the Beatles (The Long And Winding Road) and he made it better by using happy phrases taken from others happy songs still from the Beatles. The new song then become The Bright And Smooth Path

Closing Song

This very peculiar song, created by Adriano Celentano in 1972, has its lyrics completely meaningless!

Celentano invented words that sound like American English but have no meaning in any language. It was an artistic experiment to capture the sound and rhythm of English as perceived by those who do not speak it. The singer wanted to demonstrate how music could communicate emotions and meanings even without comprehensible words.
