Exercise 1: Forced Memory Box
Rapid Prototype Session 2#Aglaia
Exercise 2: Student Book of XPUB2 2023-2024
WHAT
The second exercise or rapid prototype is a literature book called Student Book of XPUB2 2023-2024 that introduces officially the current students of the second year of the course Experimental Publishing. The main components of the book are the official paperwork, the documents needed in order to apply and become members of the XPUB community.
WHY
The main purpose of this exercise is to look further into the autonomous sometimes invisible sphere/territory of bureaucracy within an educational institution. How the above requirements, documents construct (the student) identity. The paperwork as a border to be performed. The inefficiency of the paperwork threatens in this specific case the student identity. What happens when the personal documents become a piece of literature, a text? What happens you extract a document and put it in a different context? How the institution itself maintains social reproduction?
HOW
1. Ask your classmates for their consent (by making a form) and the documents needed in order to apply and be accepted in the course.
- ID
- PASSPORT
- VISA
- RESIDENCE PERMIT
- BANK ACCOUNT
- DUTCH BANK ACCOUNT
- HEALTH INSURANCE
- BSN
- PREVIOUS DEGREE PROOF
- LANGUAGE EFFICIENCY
- CV
- PHOTO
- etc.
2. Scan and print these documents and remove the unwanted numbers/letters.
3. Make the book (stitch, cover)
