ENTANGLEMENT

In a noisy server room buzzing with hard drives and

illuminated by the blinking of LEDs, a bespectacled

man plugs a ethernet port into a rack...

                   INTERVIEWER

Hello...

Docker...

We connected...?

                   DOCKER

I'm here dude, what's up?

                   INTERVIEWER

Welcome Docker, thanks for taking the time to speak to us.

                   DOCKER

No Worries Bro, Happy to be here

                   INTERVIEWER

So what you been up to recently?

                   DOCKER

Oh you know, grinding. Stacking containers, standardising

Development Environments, Pushing the limits of scalability.

Just the norm, you know

                   INTERVIEWER

Ok, that sounds impressive and quite tiring to be honest. How

do u manage to do all that? What do your support mechanisms

look like?

                   DOCKER

You're standing in it Bro! This whole building is one big

ant hill of awesome tiny Me's. A thousand servers buzzing

away, so you can self host all your open source programs and

not be so reliant on Big Tech.

                   INTERVIEWER

Oh so you help people interested in Open Source, is that an

important part of your job.

                   DOCKER

Of course dude, I'm even Open Source!

                   INTERVIEWER

That's great. How do you manage to fund yourself then?

                   DOCKER

Investment of course, I met some super people back in Y

combination. They really see the vision.

                   INTERVIEWER

The vision?

                   DOCKER

Yeah the vision. Citi Bank, Salesforce, Tribe Capital,

Atlassian. They all see it

                   INTERVIEWER

Isn't Atlassian primarily focused on proprietary software?

                   DOCKER

Yeah yeah, it' complicated you know.

                   INTERVIEWER

Ok ok. Let's change tact. So for people like our listeners

why are you a good choice if you want to move away from

software as a service and get into self hosting?

                   DOCKER

I'm amazing, and still relevant I'll have you know.

                   INTERVIEWER

I didn't say you weren't..

                   DOCKER

Ok just some people think I'm dying... But as I was saying I

make it so easy for you to spin up a little virtual machine

and host your own database, email server, front end. You name

it I make it effortless. Just click one or two buttons and I

download everything you need!

                   INTERVIEWER

You download all these packages every time? That sounds quite

wasteful?

                   DOCKER

It is what it is. You know. We give you that peace of mind.

Its hard enough as it is to move away from the big tech

companies platforms.

                   INTERVIEWER

Ok, I hear you. One final question, who owns the building we

are in now.

                   DOCKER

Oh I hate this question. Does it really matter?

                   INTERVIEWER

Yes I think it does for our listeners.

                   DOCKER

Well if you must know, the building is rented by Amazon and I

believe it's owned by Blackrock Investment now. Does that

answer your question.

                   INTERVIEWER

Yes.

                   DOCKER

Any thing else, I gotta get back to helping indie developers.

                   INTERVIEWER

No that's all. Thank you for your time

                   DOCKER

Any time Bro!

      The Interviewer unplugs. Docker buzzes.
