My chosen text is the First Things First manifesto first written by british graphic designer Ken Garland in 1967 where he informs and want fellow designer to take a stanch agains the un critical view and the wast of talent on trivial advertisement. Its a call for action to using the talent on more constructive us of talent. He determine the abolition-meant of advertisement fully is not feasible but that the “favoring of the more useful and lasting forms of communication” (Ken Garland) is needed.

Reborn sounds of childhood dreams 1 by sudanese artist Ibrahim El-Salahi. Is a painting that Ibrahim painted while he was a teacher in Sudan. The picture shows a group of dark figures standing and look at you.

'Life Aquatic with Steve Zissu' is a movie directed by Wes Anderson in 2004. The story is about the world explorer Steve Zissu that goes on a adventure to hunt down a giant shark that killed his friend in a early adventure. Along the adventure he encounter is long lost son that goes on the adventure with him and on the way discovers more about himself and where he is in life. The realization that he is not immortal and there is bigger things in life than his own ego.

Ken Garland work as a teacher at Central Saint Martins in London and still do lectures on graphic design and social issues in the design world. I got to known the text and the works of Ken Garland while studying graphic design in London and had the opportunity to her him speak on two occasions whiles living there.

Whiles getting back he was imprisoned in 1975 without charge for six months. The later left the country to Doha Qatar and lives now in Oxford in England. He is seen as one of the pioneer of Sudanese modern art. Working as a teacher and had a role as politician he and Ken Garland is very social aware artists and as teacher they both are the the roles and roll models.

In the story Steve also is the mentor and teacher for his son and a group of interns that are working on the boat. Even that Steve is slight melancholy and hard boss, the always takes care of his intern, providing food and weapons. He goes so fare as going nuts on his ship and single handily fights of a group of pirates after hurting a intern. On my personally level I enjoy the movie on multiple levels, as movie art, comedy and a look on human nature where everyone are in one place, buy everyone talks with different languages so one really gets one another.
