18/09/2025 - Byte Shuvit
There's these things known as raw image formats which (as far as i could understand it within the past 20 minutes) are image files without a header. Usually images have a header and if you mess with them the entire thing is unuseable.
Soooo that means that if you take a raw image and say, shove every single byte up one spot in the array, you end up with sometimes interesting and repeatable glitching/corruption of the image. Pretty cool!
# script that shoves bytes up one spot in the array!
# Make sure that the file type of the input and output match
# Frankenstein'd together by Alexandria van Eekelen
import random
for y in range(1): #range = number of files
with open('rawdog/rawdog1.data', "rb") as f:
b = bytearray(f.read())
for x in range(len(b)-1):
if x > len(b) - 1:
n = 0
else:
n = x+1
b[x] = b[n]
with open(f'rawdog/rawdog2.data', "wb") as f:
f.write(bytes(b))
21/09/2025 - Two Trannies Doing Home Improvement [Sound Pack]
I recently found a dynamic microphone on pretty good shape at a second hand electronics store in Leiden.
This has prompted me to start recording various noises and sounds for potential use later.
We spent our sunday recording ourselves doing some home DIYing. I cut, mixed, and packaged it up afterwards in a sound pack for publishing.
Find it here!
I found it very enjoyable to have a sample pack feature a sort of story running through it.
They're usually ultra-utilitarian so having this, sort of nonsensical collection of sounds, modeled after them makes for a neat contrast.
It also was some first steps into crafting sounds for others to use in their own work. Making sure they're somewhat mixed nicely and to cut them out of a huge recording made in Audacity.
Not in a this-product-needs-to-be-monetizable way, but in a I-want-to-help-artists-use-this-however-they-want-without-much-pain way.
There's probably room for improvement there...
24/09/2025 - Linoprint Visual Novel Graphics
I joined the NOISE JAM a few weeks ago and figured an interesting way to incorporate noise into my project was to create visually noisy graphics!
This happened to also be around the time where I started to be interested in lino-cutting and lino-printing (convenient), and I started to wonder how I could digitize these for use of character portraits.
These portraits are (traditionally) built up from layers, to enable switching between various expressions without having to have pointless pixels be loaded every time an eyebrow is supposed to move.
Following is a gallery with my process and final result.
25/09/2025 - Noise Noises From Image Data
I imported different image files into Audacity as raw data to try and find some that sound interesting. These were exported into FL studio and further edited using different plugins and automation clips to add further sonic interest. File:Sound of a webcam selfie.mp3
