INTRODUCTION

- – we're entangled with computers but we don't know whats happening inside and how it works
- – What is actually happening inside computers? we're gonna break them open and see

TIME
- How do i perceive time?
- Time as rhythm, social construct
- Where is time kept in a device? How is it stored in devices?

- What does it mean for you to be on time? Are you on time often? Why or why not?
- To be on time, for me, is a way of showing respect to the time of another person. I am mostly on time (ausnahmen bestätigen die regel) or even 5 minutes early to be extra sure im on time.
- Do you find yourself in conflict with standardized time?
- Sometimes a little, when i have to wake up in the morning to work but i didnt get enough sleep. But other than that im pretty in tune with the rhythm
- What does it mean for you to be on time? Are you on time often? Why or why not?
Telefoon Museum
- We went to the telefoon museum here in rdam and it was so cool! All volunteer grandpas maintaining that and we got lil tours.
- – GPS (Global Positioning System): working with time!!! atomic clocks in space
- – over 30 navigation satellites are circling earth / twice a day in a precise orbit
- — 3 step system – satellites, ground stations and receivers (mobile phone)
- – groundstation sends a signal, satellites reflect the signal back to earth and the receiver looks constantly for that signal. If the receiver calculates its distance (as in how much time it takes the signal to reach it) from four or more satellites, it knows exactly were its at.
- – very interesting but complex video
- – if the clocks would be off by even a millisecond it would mean an error of about a million feet or 300 kilometers!
