From XPUB & Lens-Based wiki

This page states the evolution of the web spell webring I am starting as of 18-09-2025.

Here is the extended outline of the project:

A spell for the web

What is it?

A publication (one-page website or very small zine, or both?) that is a magic act to embrace and enlighten the power of indie web through the lens of sororities.

-> This needs refining

Why make it?

To highlight the connections and links between the web and magic, that cannot exist without the feminine

Workflow

⚹ Start from the writing exercise done in methods last year (output is here)
⚹ Expand on that, add a little intro to contextualize the making of this webpage, build it with neocities?
⚹ Use readings from the list
⚹ Make a zine or a website or a webzine or all!

Timetable

Small intro writing 1 day TBD
Gathering additional material 1 week TBD
Design draft 4 hours TBD
Gathering visuals (maybe ask Roos?) 2 days TBD
Code and publication through neocities 1-2 weeks TBD
Proofreading 1 day TBD
[Optional] Print 1 hour TBD

Previous Practice

https://hub.xpub.nl/cerealbox/~kiara/methods/handmade-web/
Tumblr blogging
Roos's workshop about neocities website building that I couldn't attend :( -- it took place on 17-09-2025 at .zip EDIT: there will be other ones!!

Choices Made

⚹ The website is a webring that starts with a lightweight statement made through light webdesign and the more you venture into the ring, the deeper you go into the subject (and get a sense of how magic enacts on the web? this sounds shaky, let's see if it can be done).
⚹ Through clicking paths, you can uncover extra rings or be brought back

Rapid Prototypes

⚹ Stand alone HTML/CSS pages
⚹ Gallery of spells and references
⚹ Webrings?
⚹ Zine mockups
⚹ Create my own gifs?

Dedicated page for prototypes

Concepts: multi-layered dreamland, hidden clues, (text) adventure games, loops, traveling and wandering
