1.Progressive Youth
What:
The movie script“Progressive Youth”is about a group of young people living in Beijing in 1990s, during that time it was full of ideals and chaotic atmosphere, underground culture spread rapidly in the young people’s lives. There are four main characters and 3 woman represents different phases of their growth.
How:
The script divides into three phases: BP machine era, band era, and grown-up era. Drugs, rock and roll, and love as important elements throughout the story. Each phase expresses different state: crazy teenager, anti-system, and no regrets about youth.
Why:
I wrote the script because once I met a guy in a bar, he was drunk and can’t help telling me plenty of excited stories when he was young. Then we discussed about making them to a script as his commemorate, and he would find someone to shoot it in the future.

2.Isabella
What:
The short movie ”Isabella” is about a girl whose dog was locked by the landlord, and she came to ask her father for money to release her dog.
How:
That was shot with Canon 5D and cut with Final Cut when I was in sophomore year.
Why:
When I watched another Hong Kong movie I was inspired by a detail: a girl wants her biological father to help her release someone, but eventually audiences figured out the ”someone” is actually her dog. It was tricky and I like it. Then I extracted it and made my own movie.

3. Logo for podcast "underground sound"
What:
This logo I designed for my own podcast channel “underground sound”. It’s similar to talk show to recommend guests’ favorite albums, books, and movies. The guests are from different area and they also talk about their special stories.
How:
I put a picture with harmony colors as background and revise them in Photoshop. I try to make it looks nice and clarify the name and the attitude.
Why:
The colors were quite fit my taste, they look not vivid and cheesy, similar to my podcast’s content.
