  • In this group I would like to focus on looking at images, not necessarily in terms of concept or art history, but more a consideration of what is visible and the possible psychological results of this.

Key texts would be Barthes 'Camera Lucida' and 'Image,Music, Text', Berger's ' Ways of Seeing' and 'About Looking', Sontag's 'On Photography', T.J. Clarke's 'Sight of Death' and Ranciere's 'Future of the Image'. The aim is not to provide a rigid academic reasoning for making images, but to focus more on the possibly overlooked, the poetic, the abject, the subtext..... It is primarily for students working with still images, if you are interested in taking part please let Leslie know. I would like to keep the group small, maybe around 6 students.
