Reading – Writing – Methodology

Project 1: TE KOOP (For Sale)

What:

TE KOOP is an online project in which I tend to sell products and/or furnitures on different commodity markets in different countries around the world. In TE KOOP I investigate the underlying mechanisms of buying & selling and trading on these commodity markets. In specifically I investigate how people look at advertisements and/or process them in light of my true intentions.

TE KOOP is an online project in which I tend to sell products and/or furnitures on different commodity markets in different countries around the world. An important aspect of the project is the communication between me and a potential buyer. The only thing this person does not know, is that it is not my intention to sale. Rather the project is a research............

How:

For TE KOOP I make pictures of different products or furnitures in domestic environments. They are restricted to a few requirements like size and popularity. With size I mean the product need to have a certain body to either hide behind, in front or on it. With popularity I mean the likeability that the product gets a lot of responses. After selecting the products a specific (and natural) composition is made in the house of the shooting. The final pictures are turned into advertisements along with a brief description.

Why:

(Personal experiences in selling & buying stuff online, I tend to be nervous to meet the people. My study towards camouflage artists, psychology background and how people behave and/or are influenced by actions. I work with input and output.)

Project 2: Love Me Tinder

What:

Tinder is an application for smart phones and tablets where you can find people of your interest. The app requires a profile with some personal pictures and some personal settings. When set, you can like- or dislike people by their uploaded pictures. If 2 people like each other, you form a match. After that the app enables you to chat with each other. In ‘Love Me Tinder’ I’m looking for pictures of girls who have the Eiffel tower somewhere in the picture.

How:

In ‘Love Me Tinder’ I use Tinder intensify and make print screens of the content I’m looking for, in this case pictures of girls with the Eiffel tower somewhere in it. Out of the collection of pictures I want to make a video (slideshow) along with the song of Elvis Presley – Love Me Tender.

Why:

I’m interested in the identity of myself and of others. Especially how they present themselves on the different media platforms. In the case of Tinder I observe a lot of the same variables like pictures of girls with the Eiffel tower. Other subjects I cross are tigers, surfboards and girls with pizzas.
