Steve Rushton is a writer, editor and curator living in Rotterdam.

He has been a writer and editor for a range of projects with artists including: Short Circuit, Rod Dickinson in collaboration with Steve Rushton (2011); Who, What, Where, When, Why & How, Rod Dickinson in collaboration with Steve Rushton (2009); Belief, Thomson & Craighead, script in collaboration with Steve Rushton (2012); A Short Film About War, Thomson & Craighead, script in collaboration with Steve Rushton (2009); the Channel 4 project Flat Earth, Thomson & Craighead in collaboration with Steve Rushton (2007). Publications include Masters of Reality, (Vanessa Ohlraun, ed.) Piet Zwart Institute / Sternberg Press (2012); the series How Media Master Reality for First / Last Newspaper, issues 1-6, Dexter Sinister, (2009); New Walden, HB2, Issue 1, CAC, Glasgow, (2008); Philip, a Novel, Project Art Centre, Dublin / Critical Voices, Dublin (2006); Experience, Memory, Re-enactment, Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam/Revolver, Frankfurt (with Anke Bangma and Florian Wuest) (2005); The Milgram Re-enactment, Revolver, Frankfurt (2003).


Rushton curated the project After Neurath at Stroom, Den Haag (2006-07) and is co-founder (with Emily Pethick, David Reinfurt & Marina Vishmidt) of the research project Signal:Noise, which examines how the idea of feedback is used in contemporary culture.


He has written for a variety of art magazines including Dot Dot Dot, Metropolis M, Mute, Casco Issues and was founding editor of London-based everything Magazine (1992-2001).
