Jan Verwoert is an art critic based in Berlin. He is currently holding a series of monthly lectures at Piet Zwart Institute about a number of issues that have been central to his thinking in the last years. These include notions of artistic agency and criticality, establishing a philosophy of practice based on emotion and affect as well as indeterminacy and potentiality, and developing what he calls “an ethics of attitude” founded on both dedication and irreverance.

Jan Verwoert is a contributing editor at Frieze magazine and also writes about contemporary art for journals and magazines including Afterall and Metropolis M. His book Bas Jan Ader — In Search of the Miraculous was published in 2006 by Afterall Books/MIT Press.
