Candidate 1- Nick Thomas

Interest on readings: Research is a big part of the practice, now the relationship between materials research and text research (reading and writing) He is starting to write more, before he feels that was something separated but now he is starting to consider it as part of his work. He loves online research, a lot of reading of short form articles and online essays related with artworks and sometime also throught the deeper books.

Short form ft long texts: Gives him a wider view. He has a lost bookmarks and continue to go back later to it. With online only bookmarks and not always work but with text sometimes also notes, always depending of the interest that will be reflected in a more visible ways. A form of cataloging. He also made notes of the studio visits, and reviewing them later. Interesting stuff come across when he is doing another stuff like a different research or an application and then this interesting stuff pops up, but of course there it’s always sometimes where it;s just because a matter of time.

Where does it happen? Sometimes in the studio he prepares his self for a “research time” but other time the stuff just come across in the metro for example. There is always the possibility of found something interesting, its difficult to switch off.

Also reading stuff that doesn't relates his practice a cross over happens.

Twitter: He curates the people that he was interested, but also bigger mediums like the guardian or Al jazzera. Its a way to make the spectre wider and receive more info for different backgrounds.

Sheriff or Sans fonts; Depending of the context, sheriff its supposed to be easier to read. I care more about that when i have to design stuff.

When he was younger he reads a lot of novels and fiction literature. Reading fiction is really helpful, since christmas he has read a fiction book. He tries to have a rule to read non fiction in the studio and fiction at home, but he hasn't been able to make it work because the seminar stuff.

Seminar readings are really relevant, super interesting, he feels like the as deep as he dig in the seminars as much as he realises about how less he know, and he also feels like this program is much better than any other he has done before.

Have you read the art and education text about school? A bit, he bookmarked it to read it better in the future.
