a dream of white horses

WHAT ADOWH is comprised of two UV strip lights, a sheet of glass, glue from a glue gun, blue hair dye, clear resin, green and white strips of plastic and chewed green hubba bubba. The UV strips are mounted on the wall, the glass slots within the hood of the lights casing.

HOW

or

HOW I made the work…

I wanted to work with new materials to make something sculptural. This is where the work began. I made a series of resin tablets. Struggling alone in the only dark spot in my studio building I constructed a lightbox.

WHY

I was selected to be a part of a reading group that would result in a group exhibition. The book was Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: The Dream Country. The particular story was about the performance of Shakespere’s A Midsummer Nights Dream. The play within a play. The main conceptual motivation was to make a work that was an ode to drawing, and dreams.

every dog has his day

WHAT This work is a video. A monologue. A solitary man ranting in the passenger seat of his car. The video lasts 7 minutes as he speaks of mass castration, stupidity and revenge.

HOW The text has been a work in progress for some time. I was inspired by several sources, mainly an experience in my life that was completely outside of my control.

WHY As I experienced an interaction in my life that was completely negative, the absurd illogic of the others actions; I felt as though I was having an outer body experience. The worst kind of surrealism. I am angry, I was angry. Anger can be useful.

Breezer

WHAT Breezer is a performance. It requires a minimum of one audience member. Preferably more. The audience is gathered, I communicate with them initially in the flesh then through telecommunication where I ask a single volunteer to put my voice on loudspeaker. I read the text form afar. I hang up. Barcadi Breezers are handed out to the audience and ‘boom boom boom boom!!’ by the venga boys is played as outro.

HOW Wrote piece as part of National Theatre workshops.

WHY Village taste. Getting fucked. Growing up. Europe. Rave. Euphoria.
