From XPUB & Lens-Based wiki

The prikbord calendar is an initiative run by members of varia and .zip.

The goal is to develop a calendar website to showcase cultural events in Rotterdam, focusing on independent ~ artist run ~ small scale venues. The tool is aimed to be served as an open source toolkit so that it can be reused and tweaked to the needs of different dutch municipalities throughout the country.
The calendar also operates within the realm of single source publishing, as we are working printable features... :)
Participants to the projects are Rosa, Roos, Louisa, Nick, Luke and others I haven't met yet.

I did not participate in the first meeting that took place before the summer, but joined through the signal chat and tuned into the second meeting.

This page is meant to be a diary recording and documenting the evolution of the project.

Meeting #2 Sept 10 2025 at .zip

Participants: Roos, Rosa, Louisa, Nick, Kiara
Topic: visual, global design and looks of the website
Time: 19.00 - 21.00

First, we met and ate delicious soup.
Then, Louisa and Rosa gave me a sum up of what's been discussed in the first meeting so I could catch up.

After that, we brainstormed:

Rosa suggested an exercise to set up our brains into working/designing mode: 8 drawings in 8 minutes, each drawing representing a visual concept for the website.

After discussing our first ideas, we dived into how the website could actually look, based on recurring elements we each used in our quick drawings (gifs, layering elements, funky elements, etc.)

This conversation led to a second round of brainstorming, much more precise: each one of us focused on a specific part of the website design. Louisa looked into the layout of an event, Rosa focused on the main page, Nick designed some super nice icons/stickers, Roos also thought about the main page and I -as usual- worked on an idea for the print.

Aftersesh Feedback

Starting to work was a bit tough, since I was lacking context.
This type of collaborative project can be very messy very quickly, but the fact that we were only 5 people to talk about design matters helped a lot to focus and find a common ground. The ideas were shared and mixing together smoothly, with no effort from us!
