User:Berna Bereit Master Thesis Installation
Building up on my thesis I want to create a lecture performance/desktop lecture to present insights on my exploration. This page serves as a documenting, inspirational board to track the process.
Audience
Directed towards players and game enthusiasts, the project adds a perspective besides consuming/playing games, proposing a reality to those apparently fictional game worlds.
Format
The aim of the format is to challenge but also play with being a gamer in the way that I would like to embedd specific habits/set ups. For example having a screen and maybe a joystick - but what would the joystick be for. A gamer headset to listen, just the seating part of a gaming chair on the ground. Guiding the audience by having screens on different hight, showing different aspects of the topic, stopping and continuing with the story seperated in the different layers. Gamers often also have multiple screens for different things (one for the game, one for cheats/searching stuff/chatting, ...).
Inspiration
Video Interface Mock-Ups
For the video installation I created a guiding interface that is build upon the three chapters of the thesis: level 01 - real, level 02 - realistic and level 03 - realization.
The installation will spread over 3 screens, each screen resembles one chapter content wise. A small timer in the bottom right corner shows a countdown until the next screening starts. At the end of the video will be a small 1 minute countdown for the next screening to start.
Set-Up
→ 3 monitors (3 power cables, 3 DisplayPort cables; 3 wall mount brackets)
→ 2 chairs to watch
→ 2 headphones
→ 1 PC
A metall frame will hold the screens in case there is no possibility to mount the displays to the wall.
