I’m highly inspired by the work “Sections of a Happy Moment” by David Claerbout and by the Family Album of the project “Las Flores mueren dos veces” of the Mexican artist Cristóbal Ascencio.

(still) looking for it is a project that aims to be a collection of (personal) archival material, introducing a new gaze over these images, while remediating them.

I see it as a transitional project that I wanna make because, first of all, I want to understand what motivates/interests me in the process of working with (still or moving) images. Secondly, I would like to understand and question the role that I, as a maker/author, (want to) play in this process.

I need to start to collect and select archive material that I find relevant and interesting for this project. After this, I want to make a separation between which images depict a mundane moment, and which ones an exceptional one - what’s the difference between them? The next step consist in editing the images, remediate them, which will introduce a new narrative. The outcome of this project may be presented in the format of a video and/or photo book, depending on the nature of the material selected.

The core of this project is strictly related with my previous practice, specially with the work Your Presence Was Cancelled. What I did with this project was, precisely, to work with an archive selfie and transform it into a moving piece that (re)tells the story of an exceptional (but apparently mundane) moment in my life.

I’m highly inspired by the work “Sections of a Happy Moment” by David Claerbout and by the Family Album of the project “Las Flores mueren dos veces” of the Mexican artist Cristóbal Ascencio.
